Mohita Modgill
Founder & Managing Partner  ·  India Representative, JIC

With over two decades of global experience, Mohita Modgill is an authority on cross-cultural HR strategy and Japan–India business integration. A York University alumna and former UNDP professional, she has dedicated her career to turning cultural complexity into competitive advantage.

"With over two decades of experience, I bring a deep understanding of organisational behaviour and how companies operate across both India and Japan. This experience goes beyond identifying cultural differences — it focuses on recognising the inherent strengths of each ecosystem and how they function independently, as well as in collaboration."

Having worked closely with organisations on both sides, Mohita has developed deep insight into the qualities, work ethics, and operational styles that define Indian and Japanese businesses. She specialises in identifying and building synergies between the two — bridging gaps, aligning expectations, and enabling more effective, sustainable collaboration.

As India Representative for Japan Intercultural Consulting and an alumna of The British School, New Delhi, Mohita maintains extensive relationships across India's premium educational institutions, industrial networks, and Japanese diplomatic and business communities.

The JIC 19 Cultural Dimensions

The JIC 19 Cultural Dimensions framework is a globally-proven, structured methodology for identifying, measuring, and bridging cultural gaps between Japan and India — and across all Japan-adjacent working relationships.

Developed by Japan Intercultural Consulting over decades of research and practice, this framework underpins all of Maalabay's intercultural training programs. It provides organisations with a measurable, evidence-based approach to cultural understanding that goes far beyond generic sensitivity training.

Each dimension is assessed through our proprietary survey, allowing us to precisely design session content that addresses the specific cultural friction points your organisation faces.

HOW WE USE THE FRAMEWORK

Before every intercultural session, Maalabay administers the JIC 19-Dimensions survey to participants, measuring their interest level (Low / Medium / High) across each dimension. This allows us to precisely customise session content, focusing on the dimensions most relevant to your team's actual daily challenges — making every program practical, targeted, and immediately applicable.
